Our visit at the Children of War Center was very sobering. We learned of the atrocities carried out by the LRA. Pauline was abducted in February 2004 and the LRA killed her brother and sister immediately because they did not move fast enough. She was able to escape and was welcomed into the World Vision camp where she received training as a tailor and counseling. David was abducted before he was 10 from his grandmothers house along with four others. Two were killed immediately including his brother who was beaten to death by a log. Since he was too young to be a soldier he was forced to carry supplies. When he refused he was beaten severely and his body carries the scars to this day. The mental scars run even deeper for many in this community where the real healing will take many years. Alongwith the extreme poverty the needs are very great.
